Woman "Beaten Up" at No. 5 Orange

A woman was assaulted at the No. 5 Orange Showroom Pub on Wednesday night around 11:15 p.m. A twenty-something male witness standing on the sidewalk outside the No. 5 at Main & Powell St. on the Downtown Eastside said the woman had been "beaten up". A female standing with him agreed, saying, "I know her".

Eight to ten police cars, a few of them unmarked, along with a police paddy wagon were parked outside the No. 5 after the incident. One of the police vehicles was a black SUV that a Downtown Eastside resident said he recognized as belonging to the Gang Unit. He also said he had seen one officer at the scene carrying "a bean bag gun". The Gang Unit has identified the No. 5 Orange as an establishment that they keep an eye on.

Police officer speaks to the male suspect in the paddy wagon.

The alleged victim was sitting in the back of this police car "giving a statement" to police, according to a man standing on the sidewalk with a woman who said she knew the victim.

The female police officer with blond hair holding a plastic bag pictured above walked over to the photographer and said politely, "You can't take pictures here", when the photographer was standing on the sidewalk taking a shot of the paddy wagon with the open door. That photo is posted above. There was no yellow tape around the area and the photographer was standing about six feet back on the sidewalk where pedestrians were allowed to walk freely. The photographer then moved to other areas of the scene to take photos and the officer didn't interfere.

Several police officers search the suspect's vehicle in the No. 5 Orange parking lot.

Pictures of strippers? What's this blog coming to? Good lord!

I'll be looking in frequently to make sure nothing sexist shows up without me having a chance to express my objections to the obscenity. In fact, send me all your strippers photos so I can vet them without the public having to suffer. I'll do this only to preserve the dignity of the Community, of course. No, don't thank me, it's just the kind of guy I am.

The guy who assaulted the girl is probably not happy that the police showed up to arrest him. One can be fairly sure, though, that he would have fared far worse with whatever justice there would have been had they not come to his rescue.

Personally, I prefer the highly stylized performance of our administration of justice, i.e the police, the courts, and the penal system to rampaging vigilantes.

And on that topic, what we have in the case of Ethanol and her Mugabe clones at the Carnegie Centre is exactly a vigilante system of injustice, of whim and privilege. What Ethanol wants, Ethanol gets. Rules? Those are for fools. Not for smart folks like Ethanol, she who makes them up as she feels.

What about fairness? Why is fairness so sadly lacking at Carnegie Centre? Why don't they have any fairness there?

nice job
I am the Whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. Yes ... I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak

Sometimes comments might well be objectively interesting in themselves and well worth reading; but when they have zero to do with the effects and efforts the blogger has gone to write a post, no matter the intrinsic qualities of the comment, it's spam.

Sometimes a comment is silly and weird, and when I encounter them, I usually shrug them off and leave them to show my readers just how strange the world can be. Long ones that distract from the comments other commentators put time and energy and thought into to post, long a irrelevant spams, those I chop on the spot.

Look for a blog where comments are welcome. They are here. But keep them to do with the sense of the post. Forget the mental patients who think it's a good idea to paste "tips for growing tomatoes." That's the kind of spam one expects from a mental case. And the mental case does come round to spam occasionally.
